The Portuguese Centro de Estudos Judiciários – CEJ, in close cooperation with the National Institute of Magistracy of Romania – NIM, proudly informs that the fourth edition of THEMIS, the Europe-wide event especially addressed to trainees of all European magistracy training institutions and schools, will take place in its premises in Lisbon, in October 2009.
This event, approved as the main core activity addressed to initial training in the European Judicial Training Network framework during its General Assembly that took place in Helsinki in September 2006, is honoured by the support of both EJTN and the Council of Europe and its Lisbon Network.
The project will follow a showroom format and has the aim of joining together future magistrates of different European countries, who are undergoing entry-level training with a view to promoting an exchange of experiences and to discuss new perspectives and ideas in some of the main subject areas in which they will be called upon to deal in the future.
The event also aims to enable the development of professional contacts, experiences and relationships between both the entry-level trainees in magistracy and their teaching staff.
As such, truly convinced of the relevance of this activity in the EJTN and Lisbon Network frameworks, the CEJ Director has personally addressed invitation letters to all training institutions in Europe, members of EJTN and/or the Lisbon Network, expressing our pleasure in having a participating team from their institutions present at this event, taking place in our premises, in Lisbon, from the 19h to the 24th October 2009.
We are also pleased to inform that CEJ will cover all the expenses entailed by the participants’ presence (only accommodation and meals) from the arriving Sunday to the following Sunday. This will include a social event on Saturday.
However, participating institutions shall fully cover their members’ travel costs.
Nevertheless, any questions on the event or any further information can be obtained directly by contacting our International Department at firstname.lastname@example.org
We would like to remind you that, due to organisational demands, the sign-in deadline has been fixed to the 1st of July 2009, the number of participant teams is restricted and as such, sign-ins will be considered according to arrival order. All participants’ written papers should be sent to CEJ by the 15th September 2009 at the latest.
